Shopabuddy Ltd (company number 16098261) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect and use the data you give us when you use ShopaBuddy. The data we collect

When you complete the holiday finder we collect your name, email address, phone number, postcode and county, together with the details of the holiday you are looking for: your budget, departure airport, destination, travel dates, duration and party size. We also collect technical data such as your IP address and browser information, and your marketing preferences.

The name of your buddy. The form asks for the full name of the person you would like to travel with. That is personal data about someone else, so we use it only to process your enquiry, we do not contact them on the basis of it, and we ask that you only give us their name if they are happy for you to do so.

We do not ask for payment or card details at any point. We are not a booking service, so we never handle your money.

We collect this when you fill in a form on the site, when you correspond with us, and automatically through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your data

To register you and process your holiday enquiry, to manage our relationship with you, to administer and protect our business and this website, to deliver relevant content, to measure the effectiveness of what we send you, to use analytics to improve the website and to make recommendations about deals that may interest you. Our lawful bases are performance of a contract, our legitimate interests and compliance with legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions: Vercel (website hosting), Supabase (enquiry storage), Google (the spreadsheet your enquiry is recorded in, and Google Analytics) and Resend (sending the confirmation email to you and the notification to us). We also share data with professional advisers, HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities where we are required to.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, or store data outside it. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK we rely on the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision. We never sell your personal data.

Cookies

This site uses necessary cookies to function. Google Analytics 4, which measures how the site is used so we can improve it, stays off until you agree: when you first visit you are asked whether to allow cookies, with Reject and Accept side by side.

If you reject, no analytics cookies are set. Google receives only signals that carry no cookies and nothing that identifies you, which it uses to estimate totals. You can change your choice at any time.

When you tap our phone number or WhatsApp button, the site counts the tap: which button, which page, the time, and whether you came from one of our Google adverts. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device and keeps nothing that identifies you (no IP address and no details of your device), whatever you chose about cookies. We use the count to see how many people get in touch.

How long we keep it

Only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. We may keep it longer where there is a complaint or prospect of litigation.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of or erasure of your personal data, object to or restrict processing, request transfer of your data and withdraw consent at any time. Contact info@shopabuddy.uk. We aim to respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk. We would ask that you give us the chance to put things right first.
